A poem of mine written in 2014.
THE ROCK CANVAS
The sea forms its own patterns on the rock,
which is its canvas,
the acidic salt its paint.
The rock is hard but feels like putty,
I hold it like a weapon,
as if - like me - it has been patiently fashioned
by Nature over eons,
for a deadly purpose,
only now known.
